Some suggestions.
Suggestion 1:
Try to get hold of some old exams to the courses you have forums for and post those in a sticky. I have not seen other websites with this out there. Suggestion 2: Find a person(s) willing to search the net at a day to day basis to find new released exploits and post these on a special page that can be accessed from the menu. Suggestion 3: If the space you have on the server allows it otherwise offer torrent downloads of rainbow tables. Suggestion 4: Create a portal to the website or do it in the news section. Find one or two members willing to spend a little time every day to browse the internet for new computer security related news. Like from SecurityFocus and let them post this so people get updated and the site gets more content. Suggestion 5: This is one actually because I am not so into forums and I guess some new members might not be either. Explain somewhere how the reputation system works and how you can give some one positive points. Suggestion 6: Remove the "Google translation" box above every topic. In my personal opinion it is kind of useless. For one it translate literally every word creating weird sentences and as a second visitors that do not speak or write English will have a hard time understanding what is written here anyway. And them posting in Arab with us translating their post with the "Google translation" tool would only result in weird happenings. And last but not least it makes everything look a bit neater in my little bubble (can't speak for other people). Suggestion 7: I have no idea how this forum is exactly build up and how it is displayed in every browser but the links that show where you are above every topic in my browser could use a little padding on the left side. Quote:Ethical Hackers » Introductions, Announcements, Feedback, rules » Rules, Announcements, News and Feedback » Suggestions Suggestion 8: Remove the link to the calendar in the menu. Unless you have plans with it I do not really see any use for it. Most people will use their own private agenda and her it now only takes up space that could be better used for other things. |

RE: Some suggestions.
The second and third one are mostly black hat in my opinion. If it isn't then I agree since it would bring more users here.

It all depends how you obtain the old exams. I can imagine it would be interesting for the company's behind the educations to provide you with some old exams if the forum would have a lot of active users. It would be great for them commercial wise. And rainbow tables are used by ethical hackers as well. Some of your customers might ask you to actually gain as much data as you possibly can. For this you need these tables. You also need them to speed up certain processes when pen testing. |

Oh, sorry then. Earlier I was into black hat hacking and have never had white hat activities so I wouldn't know sorry.

Most easy way to remember it is to go by the rule that black hats and white hats use the same techniques and software. They only have different goals in mind. One is to secure a network the other one is to provide the people that secure that network with work. |

I don't think I'm allowed to post those here as they were supplied to me for a paid price. Moreover, It'd be pointless to rewrite them to fit my own agenda because they were professionally written. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 2: I was actually thinking about setting up a few new groups and lettings members do something like this and much more. I'll think more about it today. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 3: Well I've already got a download option in my store, and I was planning on doing this as well, plus some other fantastic tools. They would only be made available to my subscribers though, because I don't want every noob on the planet to just download my stuff. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 4: I have news and whatnot updated with RSS feeds as it is now with the RSS+FEEDER member. If you have a site that you want news from I'll see if this works. But I think the group I'm wanting to create will do something similar. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 5: I can do that, no problem. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 6: Hmmmmm.I'm not so sure. I'll put up a poll about it and see how other members feel. (05-02-2010 02:28 AM)Kitt3n Wrote: Suggestion 7: Yeah I'll take a look at that. For some reason it shows up fine in IE6, but anything higher than that just *meh*. I'll try to fix that, had to do the same thing with the tabs. RE: Some suggestions.
No problem if I think of any more I will let you know.
Great idea to make people do something to download either pay or be active on the forums here. I will send you an extra PM concerning one matter we are already talking about how you could use that to make it more interesting for people to pay as well. - There are no stupid questions only stupid answers. -
