Installing BackTrack4 from USB to your HD.
Requirements: a 2GB USB flash stick.
Additional information. If you have Windows XP or a different version already installed this is no problem. Just make sure that when running the installer you install BackTrack4 alongside your Windows operating system. When you will boot you will boot up GRUB (a bootloader) that will allow you to choose what operating system you want to boot. Step 1. Download "UNetBootin". Step 2 (optional). Download the BackTrack4 Final Release. Step 3. Select the distribution you would like in this case that would be BackTrack and the version we want is 4f or point to the location of your .ISO image under "diskimage". More options are available but we will not use any of these. UNetBootin1.gif (Size: 15.1 KB / Downloads: 6)
Step 4. Now select the type of device you want to use we will be choosing USB Drive in this example. When you did that choose the drive letter that goes with your USB drive. Then click the "OK" button. UNetBootin2.gif (Size: 14.1 KB / Downloads: 1)
Step 5 (optional). Now make sure in your BIOS that you can boot from an USB Flash stick. Step 6. Now boot from your USB disk. When you are allowed to type text type the following command. This will get you into the KDE from which your installing experience will be more comfortable. Quote:startx Step 7. Now you are to click the "install.sh" file in the top left corner of your screen. This will guide you trough the rest of the installation process. - There are no stupid questions only stupid answers. -

Actually, I never hear about BackTrack before, so I do not have any ideal about what you are trying to say. It is better if you say something about the program, it will make the thread more attractive, even for new member!!

What mitch said is right. Thank you for your post, and I appreciate the high quality manor in which you posted. We shouldn't have to explain every single thing on the site. If you're confused, pm someone or make a thread asking about it, but it's always a good thing to use the search function first. Granted Backtrack is a topic of discussion for more advanced computer users, it's nothing you can't figure out what it is on your own if you just searched for it.
