[TUTORIAL] Ubuntu 10.04 - moving buttons to right hand side of window border
The button placement in Ubuntu 10.04 has been the biggest gripe in this release of the distro complained about by almost everybody. You see, the Ubuntu developers decided to move the window buttons to the left of the titlebar (a la OSX) rather than the right (which is where we're used to seeing them).

Anyway, you can shift the buttons by runnin this simple little command via the Terminal;

Code:
gconftool-2 --set /apps/metacity/general/button_layout --type string "menu:minimize,maximize,close"

If you prefer a more graphial method, you could always just use the gconf-editor or even ubuntu tweak!

I hope this thread is useful to people (sorry if it's in the wrong area - a tuts section would be really useful)

Yup. Everything can be done via terminal if you have the right components =P For instance, I do ALL of my video conversions via terminal - same with screencasting.
