Obama Moves to Block Email Warrant Reformation
A group of ISP's are trying to lobby the Government to afford the same protections to email in the cloud as email stored at your home has. Under current law, email in the cloud that is older than 180 days is considered abandoned, and authorities may obtain it without a warrant, due to the Electronic Communications Act that was adopted in 1986. However, the law still demands warrants to seize emails from your hard drive. The new move comes as part of combination of ISP's and other groups forming under the banner, "Digital Due Process".
